         Event Info

The Third Annual Tour de hills will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008, and be comprised of 4 events: a road race, and two tours/rides.   This year’s road race will be a 58 mile course known as the “Jasper Disaster” and will be a USCF sanctioned timed race. It is a very difficult course and is not for beginner cyclists. It has steep grades, between 6-15% and LOTS of climbing. Only serious experienced riders should attempt it. There are breathtaking Ozark Mountain views throughout.  The race offers a total purse of $1200 divided in 5 categories and is a division D BAR/BAT race. The 58 mile course can be done as a tour if desired.

As in the past, the 15 & 26 mile tour rides are available for those non racing, leisurely riders. The 15 mile ride is obviously the easier of the two but does have several rolling hills. It makes for a great family ride.  The 26 mile ride has a couple of challenging climbs, followed by long straights and rolling hills.

Course Info

The road race and tours will start at the First National Bank Soccer Complex in Harrison, Arkansas. The actual finish is in front of Forest Heights Elementary School. Riders will need to come back to the starting area for results and feed zone.

58 Miles Road Race/ Tour Ride: Known as the “Jasper Disaster”, not an easy ride, 3 very challenging climbs, 6-15% winding grade – but is manageable. Not for beginners. Strictly for serious trained riders. Unbeatable Ozark view. Should allow 3-6 hours to complete.

26 Mile Tour/Ride: A light challenge, good work out. Does have a few challenging climbs followed by long flats. Please allow 2 to 3 hours to complete

15 Mile Tour/Ride: A leisurely ride with a few hills. The hills are nothing that can’t be handled by a beginner rider. This is a scenic ride. Please allow 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
